Our approach to sustainability
Sustainability is an integrated part of our business strategy. We work systematically to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect biodiversity, and contribute to social and economic development in the region. Our work is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and follows the requirements of the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

NTE's sustainability framework and metrics
Sustainability work at NTE is structured around material topics within environmental, social, and governance areas. Through double materiality analysis, we have identified impacts, risks, and opportunities, and we use these as the basis for priorities and measures. We track progress through targets and indicators, including within greenhouse gas emissions, HSE, and social contribution.

Environmental responsibility and biodiversity
Our power plants are located in areas of high natural value. We take responsibility for reducing our environmental impact through careful operations, environmental monitoring, and cooperation with local stakeholders. Our ambition is to produce energy in balance with nature.
We have an established climate accounting system, based on the GHG Protocol, which provides accurate and comparable emissions data. This is used to identify measures that can reduce our environmental impact.
Ethics
Transparency Act and ethical guidelines
At NTE, we conduct our business responsibly and based on our values: open, close, and reliable. In line with the Transparency Act, we carry out due diligence assessments to identify and manage the risk of violations of human rights and decent working conditions in our own operations and in our supply chain. We set requirements for our suppliers and partners, and follow up with dialogue and measures where necessary.

Diversity, inclusion and equality are essential to a positive workplace culture and a sustainable business. Through our work on the activity and reporting duty (ARP), we assess our current performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement measures to promote equality and prevent discrimination. We report annually on this work in our Equality Statements.

Social sustainability and local value creation
NTE is owned by 19 municipalities in Trøndelag and holds a central societal role in the region. We contribute to local value creation by delivering critical infrastructure, paying dividends to our owners, and supporting culture, sports, and good causes in Trøndelag.
